Renovation grants: a window that closes at the end of 2026

The energy renovation of buildings is a priority of the Recovery Plan, financed with Next Generation European funds, which channel a very significant volume of resources towards the improvement of the Spanish building stock. In addition to these funds, there are the IDAE’s own programmes, such as the PREE and the PREE 5000 (the latter for municipalities with a demographic challenge), the aid of each autonomous community and the deductions from Personal Income Tax for energy efficiency works.

The time factor is key: the Next Generation funds have entered their final stretch, with deadlines set for the end of 2026 and no extensions planned. Many of the calls require demonstrating a reduction in the consumption of non-renewable primary energy of at least 30%, or an improvement in the energy rating of the building. In addition, the Energy Saving Certificate (CAE) system allows additional income to be generated from the actions carried out, improving profitability.

The bottleneck of these grants is usually the processing: technical documentation, justification of the improvement and strict compliance with deadlines and requirements. Having a team that prepares the technical part and manages the application and justification avoids losing the aid for administrative reasons, and allows you to focus on what matters: the project.
