Coordinné: Integrating sustainability into the DNA of corporate strategy

Coordonné is a family business in Barcelona founded in 1978, specialising in wallpapers, fabrics, paints and decorative products, which defines sustainability as a "holistic commitment", present at all levels of its value chain, from materials to distribution and customer service. With this clear purpose, we have collaborated with Coordonné to design a strategic path towards a responsible and competitive business.

“Our goal is to be a close and flexible ally. We believe that sustainability is only possible when strategies are designed realistically and adapted to each organization,” says the Envolta Global team.

Initial diagnosis: Business Impact Assessment and double materiality

The project began with an initial assessment using B Corp’s BIA (Business Impact Assessment) tool, to measure where Coordonné stood in relation to the certification requirements. At the same time, we made a double materiality analysis, identifying both:

  • Environmental and social impacts that Coordonné generates on its environment (use of resources, emissions, waste treatment, working conditions of its workers and suppliers).
  • Risks and opportunities that the external environment (ESG regulation, customer expectations, market conditions) exert on the business.

Thanks to this approach, it was possible to prioritise critical areas where Coordonné had to act to improve its sustainability performance.

Action plan and goals towards B Corp

With the results of the diagnosis, we designed an action plan with concrete measures aligned with B Corp’s five key areas (governance, environment, community, customers, employees). Some milestones included:

  • Reduction of environmental impact on production processes.
  • Improvements in working conditions, training and well-being of the team.
  • Responsible evaluation of suppliers and ESG criteria in the chain.
  • Transparency through a sustainability report that reflects future commitments, achievements and goals.

Objective of achieving the necessary points for Coordinné to be eligible to be certified as a B Corp.
With this approach, the sustainability strategy is not an isolated project, but integrated into the core of the business model.

Benefits it brings

  • Competitive differentiation: A B Corp certification provides credibility to conscious customers, investors, and consumers.
  • Talent attraction: more and more professionals value companies with a real purpose.
  • Resilience to future ESG regulations.
  • Improvement of relationships with suppliers and partners based on responsible criteria.
  • Increased trust and reputation through a public report that communicates commitments and progress.

Coordinné already had a vision of sustainability, but with a strategic approach and tools such as the BIA and dual materiality, this vision is reinforced within the business. With the action plan drawn up and a public sustainability report, the brand can move firmly towards a B Corp certification and consolidate itself as a benchmark for responsible design.
