Decarbonizing the livestock sector on the VIC plain

This morning, we had the opportunity to participate in the Technical Conference #FIPORC23: “The pig sector. Opportunities, threats or transitions” at the Centre for Industrial Gastronomic Innovation | CINGI- Foodlab of Riudellots, to talk about the environmental challenge of slurry management and its revaluation with biogas plants.

Màrius Aguirre, coordinator of the Biogas Commission of the Bioenergy Cluster Catalonia, shared his experiences of Biogas production in Europe.

🌿 Within the framework of the circular bioeconomy and sustainability, biogas technology continues to evolve and represents a great opportunity for the livestock sector in the Catalan territory within the current energy context. Waste from the livestock sector must be considered as resources, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, reduce nitrate pollution in water and generate energy in a more sustainable way, among other environmental benefits.
